Foreigner

Can't Slow Down

It’s been almost fifteen years since the last album, ‘Mr Moonlight’ was released, and now Foreigner come back with ‘Cant Slow Down’, their first studio release with singer, Kelly Hansen ( Hurricane).

There are thirteen new tracks, as well as a live DVD of their recently completed European tour, and a second CD with some of their remixed and rerecorded greatest hits, distributed through Wal Mart stores, this provides great value for money.

As soon as you listen to the new stuff, you know it’s Foreigner! After my first listen, I thought it was a bit dull, nothing new, but after a few more spins, I decided what a great album it is!! Kelly Hansen’s vocals are ‘scarily’ similar to Lou Gramm, and most of the songs sound like they’ve come off the classic earlier albums.

But, this CD represents everything the band is known for, great rock songs and hard hitting power ballads!

The title track, ‘Cant Slow Down’, demonstrates Hansens’ powerful vocals, and is one of the more up tempo songs on the album. Ballads include, When it Comes to Love’, ‘I’ll be Home Tonight’ and a real tear jerker, ‘I Can’t Give up’.

My personal favourites are ‘Give me a Sign’ and ‘Angel Tonight’ which are a bit more high energy and make you want to sing along!

I like this album, and most die hard Foreigner fans will do so too, although I dont think it will go down in history as a great rock album.

Cheers

Jo
