ASIA

OMEGA

Asia were one of the ‘supergroups’ formed in the early 1980’s, and with such a pedigree, as Yes, King Crimson ,Uriah Heep and E.L.P, you cannot fail to be impressed with the masterful musicians the music.

After various line-ups, the four original members reunited in 2006, to tour, and released “Phoenix’ in 2008, and still together, this is their latest offering- Omega. I love this album, this is mild melodic rock at its very best. If you like great lyrics that tell a story, beautiful, heartfelt ballads, and catchy tunes, this is the album for you!

The album opens with ‘Finger on the Trigger’, which is a raw energy rock song. The rest of the album is fantastic. ‘Holy War’ is one of my favourites, with fabulous keyboards from Geoff Downes and great drumming from Carl Palmer, it conjures up images of Medieval knights riding off in to battle!

John Wetton, has an amazing voice, and this is shown in the magical, ‘There Was a Time’, with its Celtic feel, this is the best song I’ve heard for a long time, and my favourite song on the album.

‘I Believe’ has the full Asia sound, and ‘I’m Still The Same’ has a hint of the Beatles about it.

This is a great album. If you like the Prog rock sounds of the 70’s you’ll like this. Asia are a band still evolving and creating new, exciting music.
