ABOUT THE ROCKPIT
The Rockpit was created in 2009 to fill a gap that we saw in music reporting. Too many websites out there either ignored the music we loved or were heavily genre-based and excluded some really cool music. We also found it really hard to find review sites that would look as deeply at the local live music scene as they did at the international and national scenes.
Over the first few years of existence we have grown from a site that attracted a few thousand of the curious to literally thousands of new readers every day. We would quote a figure but to be honest since August 2012 to numbers have increased every week, as has our mailing list. These days we have almost as many readers in the US as we do in Australia and we hope that market as well as our growing European readership wil continue to increase.
The Rockpit has always been the baby and brainchild Mark Rockpit from day one, and now that we finally have the right team on board things will just continue to get bigger and better. We rely on one person for that - you, and without you taking the time to read and article here or a review there we would be wasting our time.
Long live Rock and Roll!

THE 2013 ROCKPIT TEAM IS:

I remember it distinctly. It was the spring of 1976. I was at Jeff Kristola's house just to catch a glimpse of his sister Tina. I was 6 and she was in her late teens and really cute. That's when I saw it... and I couldn't turn my head... I started to go crazy wanting to touch it... I had to have it... the seminal album "Alive!" from Kiss. It was as if my world was created at that moment. From then on, it had to be loud, catchy, and something my parents hated. Thanks to a promise from a dad who thought they were a flash in the pan, I got to see KISS July 13, 1979 at the Pontiac Silverdome. From there, I moved on to all of the fun of 80's rock. I now had my musical footprint firmly planted and it had me heading in the right direction.
Having attended well over 300 concerts in my 40 years, I am still expanding my love for the different genres of Rock. My newest love is some harder metal (gotta love God Forbid, Kittie, Gwen Stacy - check out the cool interviews), but I will never lose my love for 80's rock, as it opened up a friendship with some cool rockers (thanks again for attending the GOE [Garden of Evil] party, Dario and Lizzy [of Lizzy Borden, pictured with Todd above]), but my lasting friendship... who am I kidding, introduction to lost members of my family - Evil, Aaron, Shane, and all other GOE members (too many to list by name).
Known to most simply as Rockin CPA, my true loves are my hotter than hell wife Jamie, Rugby playing animal son Fred, my closest friends (even if they try to kill me), my music collection, and spending my spare time volunteering with the American Cancer Society. God help you if you try to take ANY of them from me.
Music has always been my mistress (if you ask Jamie, she will tell you it is either music or Evil herself!) and being a part of the Rockpit team is truly a blessing and welcome addition to my music passion (dare I say fetish???)... See you all in the PIT!!! |

Helen Hosie or Helen H, born and bred in Glasgow, Scotland was born with a passion for all things ROCK N'ROLL. With many career changes she finally settled in the world of music and body art. Having been around the music journalism seen for a while now starting with an American mag as a reviewer, it wasn't long till she was out in the filed interviewing, during this time started her own PR company and working for American bands. It was during this time that she was introduced to THE ROCKPIT, and a chance meeting with Australian band BabyJane that a move to the magazine was decided and more to her musical tastes. Also work began with the band as there UK agent, a role that is still upheld to this day. With a no nonsense attitude she says it like it is. Full time mother, wife and body piercer with a love of tattooing she is a very busy gal indeed.
Musical influences, Sisters of Mercy, The Cult, Rob Zombie, Marliyn Manson, Deathstars, Michael Monroe(, Hanoi Rocks to present) BABYJANE, Mötley Crûe, ACDC, Alice Cooper, Murderdolls, Wednesday 13, Depeche Mode, The Doors, Guns N' Roses, INXS. The list could go on and on. |
