WE DO WHAT WE WANT

It’s getting to the point where saying a band like The Snew are derivative of AC/DC is lazy journalism – surely the Bon Scott-era boogie rock sound is so ubiquitous now that it, along with The Stones country & Americana crossover 70’s sound and The Beatles sugary melodies, are so ingrained in the lexicon of rock that it’s like it was here from day one of creation?

Anyway, if anything, The Snew’s second album “We Do What We Want” is more indebted to second generation AC/DC rockheads (Krokus, Jackyl, Rhino bucket, Airbourne, et al) than directly to Accadacca, and this red raw bunch of Hollywood troublemakers do it better than most.

The album is full of ragged almost-classics with a “fuck you” attitude and a glint of rogueish charm twinkling in their eye. The title track and ‘Get Loud’ would fit right at home on the latest Airbourne CD, ‘Feedback and Distortion’ is a balls out rocker and ‘Private Stash’ has a quirky vocal slightly reminiscent of Dangerous Toys.

Don’t expect anything too cerebral here, this is torn n’ greasy blue jeans, head shaking, middle finger extended rock n’ roll with a smile and a glass of Jack close to hand. ‘Knock It Out Of The Park’ is ‘Let There Be Rock’s distant cousin and features, along with ‘Who The Hell Are You’, Curtis Don Vito’s vocal chords shredding right next to Andy Lux’s Gretsch guitar.

If you wanna rock, The Snew can help – join their Snew World Order now and embrace them in all their rough n’ ready, ragged glory.
