SIGNS OF ANGELS

I’m impressed by this one after just a couple of plays and can see it getting a few rave reviews out there from a variety of listeners. This is modern Melodic Rock that kind of straddles the area between big eighties harmonies and Pop-Goth-Rock. It’s a beautifully produced record and with the right exposure may even bother the charts! With the involvement of writers from Hammerfall, Candlemass, TMOMS and Crash the System there’s a wealth of talent both playing and writing here all capped off with the wonderfully warm vocals of Isabell 'Issa' Oversveen.

There are so many echoes here and listening has a hundred band names popping into my head but these songs take the feel of a certain band and run with it rather than just becoming pastiches. Opener ‘Angels Crying’ sounds like Evanescence meets Brother Firetribe; whilst second track ‘I’m Alive’ makes me think of the slickness of say The Poodles or Wig-Wam with its massive chorus, and is a great choice for a first video!

What you get is a pretty consistent album and a good listen: ‘Give me a Sign’ even has a trace of country and ‘River of Love’ comes across all Avril Lavigne meets Scandal meets big haired Heart and along with ‘I’m Alive’ is probably one of my picks here. Elsewhere we get the poppy but slightly brooding 'What Can I Do' which is maybe a little more modern and a tad more uninspiring.

Best of the rest are the great big ballad 'Unbelievable' which I could certainly see being a big radio hit with the right exposure and the heavier, rockier closer ‘Fallen Angel'

Great album that I’d love to see these guys deliver ‘live’.

Can’t wait to hear more.
