Hi, for starters wonderful weblog, but is any person else seeing the sidebar all messed up making use of firefox edition two? It truly is pushed about to your centre for me. =-=
I caught Delta Rose live back in July at the House of Blues in LA supporting ROCK SUGAR. It’s always great to see a young band up on stage playing with a bit of passion, but when they have the chops and the songs to really pull it off you really sit up and listen.
The Delta Rose EP is a confident set of songs produced by their manager Bill Schleifer and is pretty representative of the band live. There are a lot of blues influences in here and obviously a lot of rock, but for a young band it’s refreshing to hear from Forrest (Goss, Guitar) that their influences also go back to the original artists rather than the copyists: and that connection to the source can be heard especially in songs like “No Place Feels Like Home’.
The EP opens with ‘Hot Hand Honey’ which is a bombastic Halen-esque number and great in the live set. It’s more the feel and swagger of the progenitors of the LA scene than the bands that came later when the hair got higher.
“Ain’t Dead Yet’ is a great song built of solid rock and “Cut You” is a nice fuzzed blues. It’s earthy and elemental rock, built from basic components but feeling somehow essential. It’s got that groove that makes you want to move your feet, your head, your ass…
Hailing from Rosemead if you live in the LA area you are sure to be able to catch them somewhere soon. If you want a fun night out listening to some good rock music watching a band that put on a great show then check them out.
