If you haven't heard of Ginger and are unaware of the Wildhearts then sadly you are not in the minority. The fact that the world at large remains stubbornly oblvious to one of Britain's greatest talents of the last two decades still never ceases to amaze me. Just to chart his career is interesting enough: he's been in the Quireboys, The Throbs, and now is part of the Mike Monroe (of Hanoi Rocks fame) solo band and of course he has remained the creative force behind the Wildhearts since they began.
Ginger's solo career was always on a different and more diverse course to his main band and here you get pretty much a pinch of everything. Musically it's a mix, there's rock of course and plenty of it but there's also pop, country and even reggae. So here we get a best of spanning the Silver Ginger 5 album 'Black Leather Mojo' and solo albums 'Valor Del Corazon', 'Yoni' and 'Market Harbour' though nothing from the cut-short singles collection project, which is a shame. There's even two newies: ‘No Way Out But Through’ and ‘This Too Will Pass’ which are both graet songs but not classics.
Enjoy and find out what you've been missing. Or just reaffirm that you always knew better than anyone else. Then nip off to his site and download a free second CD 'TEN 2': a compilation of B-sides and the like for an even bigger Ginger fix. It is Christmas after all!
As a songwriter Ginger seems to be able to turn his hand to anything, I bet he even farts melodies in his sleep.
