BEGGARS AND THIEVES

STONE ALONE EP

01. Stone Alone
02. Things We Lost In The Fire
03. Will A Love Survive
04. No More Broken Dreams (acoustic live)
05. Beggars & Thieves (acoustic live)

Interesting one this: Beggars and Thieves released that great debut way back in 1990 then they disappeared only to resurface for a couple more albums in 1997 and 1999. So it’s been a while for their patient fans and now we have a new EP available only at the UK Firefest with new and unreleased content. On the basis of what I hear let's hope that the EP becomes more widely available.

I have never reviewed an EP before but seeing Louie Merlino sing with Sin City Sinners earlier in the year in Vegas had me reaching for the debut album again and then this came along. My good friend Damien sent me a copy mainly just to let me know I'd missed out on another great Firefest!

The title song ‘Stoned Alone’ is a great song and sounds fresh and alive and very in keeping with the BAT sound, and if this is an indication of what a new album may sound like then we need it now! Also on the EP we get a couple of interesting unreleased tracks plus the ‘live acoustic treatment’ for the simply amazing opening and closing tracks from that 1990 debut (If you aren't familiar with 'No More Broken Dreams' in particular then you should treat yourself and check it out now!. All up it's a nice package to put together for Firefest but surely enough interest will be generated to get Louis and the guys back in the studio?
