Halfwait Fly Away

The Rockpit presents the premiere of the new single for “Fly Away” from Halfwait.

Halfwait is a grunge/rock band based in Sydney, originally formed in 2010 by high school friends Jon Barca and Chris Tallon.

Earlier this year, Halfwait began recording their second EP, Forever at Electric Sun Studios with Stevie Knight and Dave Petrovic producing.

The new single ‘Fly Away’ is about singer Jon’s past relationship dramas of a life torn between playing shows and being away from home with work making it difficult for the partner to deal with.

The track recalls highlights of 90’s Grunge, with scratchy guitars, clean vocals, hard hitting drums and punching bass lines with adds to make it a more dynamic track.

Since it’s inception, Halfwait, they’ve been found playing across the Sydney, appearing regularly at venues such as The Sandringham Hotel, The Annandale, The Landsdowne, Bald-Faced Stag, and The SFX.

In 2011, they self released their first EP, One Life One Chance with first single ‘The Ride’ and was soon receiving airplay on Radar Radio and SWR FM. Follow up singles ‘Reasons’ and ‘In Between’ were released in 2012 through Foghorn Records.

Following a two year hiatus, Halfwait, adding Nath Stalenberg to the line-up as their new bassist. ‘Fly Away’ is the first single set to be released off the Forever EP accompanied by a soon-to-be-released music video.

The 5 track Forever EP is near release and will showcase a new dynamic sound from the band, showing their growth from their first EP One Life One Chance.

Look out for Halfwait to return to the live scene in the coming months.
