The Phoenix

This is a great fun dose of old school Rock with a hint of Metal from Italy's all-girl 'The Phoenix'. In truth it takes you back years sonically and yet at times seems strangely modern, with a brief stopover at the Sunset Strip circa 1987.

At the heart of this EP are four extremely catchy songs, from the smoky old school rock of 'My Turn to Deal'; through the slower and extremely catchy late eighties big chorus of 'Dangerous Girl' which is as good as anything Lita Ford did in her commercial period.

There's also the charged almost folk-scented hard rock ballad 'You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll' which is our pick of the bunch, before the EP ends with 'Party Hard' which rocks hard and fast.

Sure four tracks isn't that long to get to know a band but on the basis of what we have here I'll wager it would be well worth getting to know 'The Phoenix' lot better over the coming years. We like this very much.
