Hudson is an emerging Los Angeles-based four-piece rock 'n' roll band, who release their sophomore EP ‘Cast Out’ independently on Wednesday, October 21. It really is a release you have a listen to if your idea of Rock and Roll is a guitar-driven dirty bluesy concoction with plenty of grunt and just a little excess.

Opening track ‘Whatcha Know’ should have you onside immediately with its proto rock crunch and faux 70’s styling; but ‘Upper Hand’ is built on an even bigger riff with even sweeter melodies and some nice slide guitar; and three tracks in with ‘Half Alive’ you start to really get where Hudson are coming from – its swirling hypnotic rhythms held tight in a cage of wiry guitar.

The slower ‘For the Moment’ and title track ‘Cast Out’ close out the EP. The former takes a swampy blues and the closer takes a similar bases and goes wild with it. Both work very nicely indeed.

As well as the obvious Zeppelin and Skynyrd influences there’s something sweeter and melodic too in the mix and an approach to going back to the roots of Rock that latter-day bands like The White Stripes and The Black Keys did so well.
