TNT - 30th ANNIVERSARY 1982-2012 LIVE IN CONCERT

DVD & CD SET

INDIE RECORDINGS

SEPTEMBER 29 2014

Shot on June 2, 2012 at the Clarion Hotel in Trondheim, Norway. TNT performs to a sell out crowd along the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and with a host of guests including:  Hank Von Helvete, Dee Snider, TNT's original singer - Dag Ingebrigtsen, and vocalist Tony Harnell, (who has now rejoined the group after the departure of Tony Mills)…

This really is worth the wait for fans and the curious alike. Many bands have gone for added ‘symphony’ over the years – accompanying their catalogue with an injection of orchestra, and to be honest it’s been done well and done not so well. TNT perhaps surprisingly seems to have managed to produce one of the most compelling experiments of that type to date. Part of that is surely down to the approach – there’s no sense here that the band ever considered re-invention, rather a compelling and astonishingly effective reinterpretation, leaving the essence of the songs intact. Some things just work.

For fans of the band the soundtrack alone may have been enough to sell it – there’s a great selection of songs here, and the tracklisting runs beautifully from the opening pomp of the ELP ‘Fanfare for Common Man’ to the glorious climax of ’10,000 Lovers’/’Seven Seas’. But in-between is the real beauty of it all and the real strength of TNT’s catalogue shines through. When you add to that some HD visuals (though strangely no BluRay is being released) and you feel a part of what must have been a very special night.

Musically the night is hard to pick faults with and anyone interested in the Norwegian Heavy Metal scene really should grab a copy – these guys spawned the whole thing and they are still very much at the top of their game. Everyone of course will have their favorites and mine rather predictably is the powerhouse ’10,000 Lovers’ the first track that I heard by the band way back when and one that still brings back some great memories. Enjoy!
