Sister Sleaze...

Sister is one of those bands you will take one look at and think you can immediately know what they will sound like, what they wear, how they live and even what they had for breakfast. Like most preconceptions you are often way off the mark and though after a first glance it might not be love at first sight Sister has something that will keep you coming back.

Laying the cards right on the table I was only moderately impressed by Sister’s 2011 full length debut as the preceding EPs and live tracks we’d heard seemed to suggest something bigger and brasher (check out the ‘Deadboys Making Noise’ EP if you can track I down).

Today with ‘Disguised Vultures’ sleaze-punk-Metal never sounded better. From the off the punk quotient is turned up to ten with ‘My Enemy’ kicking down you doors before the standout track ‘Sick’ bursts in. It’s a track that manages to combined passion, punk aggression and melody atop a crunching Metal riff and is the clearest sign here that Sister is bigger and better this time round.

Though the album never quite manages to top ‘Sick’ there’s plenty of other indications that Sister has progressed since that first album- notably the title track which rides a hige groove and ‘Naked’ which shows a lighter touch and will please the legions of sleaze rockers out there.

If you like it heavy but also love the attitude real gutter punk brings this is raw as hell and weighs a ton. Sister is a band you should be checking out.
