SAINT REBEL - SAINT REBEL

MIGHTY MUSIC

JANUARY 12 2015

After what can only be described as a success with their first outing: ‘The Battle of Sinners and Saints’ Saint Rebel is back with a self-titled second that can only be described as ‘more of the same’. So if you like it running the gamut of everything from Hard Rock to Metalcore, all with a highly melodic leaning, you should be equally impressed this time around…

Album number two has the same great vocals and wonderful production and the same hard edges and quite frankly is heavy as hell with some huge economic riffs and really heavy feel, albeit with the odd nod to the mainstream on the oddly poppy ‘Desperate Measures’ which though good is oddly out of place here.

Really though the gems are the hardest tunes: ‘My Patient’ channels the aggression to some with some scorching vocals and huge riff; ‘Feeling Good INC.’ immediately slows the pace but maintains the heat; and ‘Now You Know’ rides a building riff to become the most reflective moment here: so much for the openers – the best is yet to come!

While both ‘Mr. Knife’ and The New Guy’ explore the heavy and the alternative vibes it’s ‘I Give It up’ that really stands out here. Overall although not quite as immediate as their debut, this self-titled outing ticks many of the same boxes. This could well be a band to break big and maybe this is the album to do it for them.
