PAVIC IS WAR THE ANSWER REVIEW 2014

PAVIC - IS WAR THE ANSWER?

NEW VENTURE MUSIC

JANUARY 24 2014

Founded by guitarist Marko Pavic flanked with Aleks Ferrara on bass and Lorenzo Antonelli keyboards, PAVIC released the debut "Taste Some Liberty" in late 2005. In 2008, PAVIC were back with “Unconditioned”, the band's second release, with a twist as the band took on board a more modern Rock/Metal sound. That sound has remained on third outing ‘Is War the Answer?’ but the vocalist has changed with Joe Calabro coming into the fold.

This is a decent album you know, solid songs in the vein of modern rock royalty like Shinedown and Hinder. Starting out with the title track which really brings that comparison to life coming across a lot like that heavier sound Shinedown do so well. ‘In Your Eyes’ that follows is perhaps motre Nu Metal than anything else here and the slower ‘Song for the Rain’ has lush Hinder-like melodies and happens to be a fine tune.

Elsewhere on the album there’s nothing particularly ground-breaking and sadly there is no stone-cold killer track, but what there is are a set of songs that work well and some cool ideas – the shredding on ‘Your Own Misery’ is uber-cool and the Duran Duran cover – ‘Notorious’ is nicely done, but never one of our favourite DD songs.

All up if that modern rock sound is your thing this has plenty of merit.
