PAUL RODGERS THE ROYAL SESSIONS ALBUM REVIEW 2014

PAUL RODGERS - THE ROYAL SESSIONS

UNIVERSAL MUSIC

FEBRUARY 7 2014

Paul Rodgers legendary vocalist of Free and Bad Company and more recently Queen has always been one of the ‘voices of Rock’ and quite rightly so. Over the years his voice has changed subtlety, retaining the power but growing richer and more resonant. This album sees Paul reaching back to his blues, soul and R&B roots to deliver up a number of standards in his own inimitable fashion.

Backed by the ‘Royal Singers’ who bring with them a Gospel/Choral element  and more than 20 musicians this isn’t just a simple reworking of classics it’s a journey of rediscovery.

If you love soulful music or are a fan of Rodgers this is an album to savour much like Muddy Waters Blues was all those years ago. Try ‘I Can’t Stand The Rain’ and tell us that this music isn’t timeless and a thousand times more real than anything you will hear today. Some music moves the human soul and this is a soundtrack that just might capture some of that emotion.
