OUTLOUD - LET'S GET SERIOUS

AOR HEAVEN

MAY 23 2014

Greek Melodic Rockers Outloud has two rather decent albums behind them and this outing is just the kind of classy Melodic Hard Rock you would expect from the band that features Bob Katsionis (of Firewind) and American singer Chandler Mogel.

Mastered and mixed by Tommy Hansen, there’s a certain crispness to the sound and some great tracks that sit distinctly in Melodic Hard Rock territory.

Whether it’s the sweeping semi-ballad ‘I was so Blind’ or meatier fare like opener ‘Death Rock!’ or the wonderfully melodic ‘One More Time’ there’s plenty to enjoy.

The heaviest track the band has produced to date: ‘Toy Soldiers’ is also one of the real standouts here and features Mike Orlando of Adrenaline Mob on guitar.

The album just has one hiccup in our eyes and I guess with cover-versions for a large part familiarity normally swings it, ‘Enola Gay’ that for some reason closes the album was never a song I cared for and this is a decent Hard Rock version of the song that I still don’t like. I guess if you love the song you might react very differently.

All in all though Outloud just keeps getting better and this is probably their most enjoyable album to date, and that’s saying something.
