NEUTRAL NOISE LITTLE GARDEN REVIEW 2014

NEUTRAL NOISE - LITTLE GARDEN

INVENT SOUND

OUT NOW 2014

Modern Rock with attitude from Poland, Neutral Noise’s ‘Little Garden’ is a great listen from start to finish, full of aggressive vocals, wailing guitar (these guys aren’t afraid to solo) and a thumping rhythm section. And if that sounds good to you then you’ll be well rewarded by giving this one a spin.

Opening track ‘Never Again’ it a hard-hitter that leaves you wanting to hear more, surely all you need from an opening track. That stomping statement is followed by the oddly-title ‘Turtle Steps’ which as it turns out is our favourite here: all brooding swagger like STP did so well in the nineties, with some great vocals and great atmospherics. Next up: ‘Help Me’ is also a solid track that is almost as cool, this time veering nicely into the heavier grunge of Alice in Chains, with a Shinedown lilt.

The album continues to maintain the same high standards throughout and both Bullet’ and title track ‘Little Garden’ stand out: the latter perhaps a little surprisingly the most mainstream old-school rock built around a cool riff. This is good stuff.

With a sound that both reminds you of the giants of grunge like STP and Alice in Chains, and newer bands like Stone Sour and Shinedown, the band a ‘the sound’ that is sure to generate a lot of interest. Add to that some decent to great songs and you have just the right mix that gives these guys every chance of making a dent in the scene not only locally but internationally.

At only eight tracks long we’re too long from a mini album, and track length taken into account it might be a little light on material, but I’d always rather take quality like this than cram in a few more tracks to make-weight. Well worth exploring.
