MICHAEL BORMANN LOVE IS MAGIC REVIEW 2014

MICHAEL BORMANN - LOVE IS MAGIC

RMB RECORDS

APRIL 25 2014

The voice of Jaded Heart is back, this time with a ‘Best of’ his lighter compositions entitled ‘Love is Magic’. The album collects together some of his best ‘lighter moments’ from the past 15 years and throws in two new tracks, two covers and a bunch of re-recordings.

After a trip back in time for the piano-ballad “I Wanna Hear Your Voice”; and a great acoustic version of “Singing For You” it’s the wonderful rendition of The Beatles’ “Help” that really opens your eyes.

Indeed there are plenty of great moments on here like the duet with Anette Olzon on “Two Of A Kind”; and the new track “Somebody Like You” a slow and easy rocker that will have you singing along.

For me, as a fan of Bormann’s music, favourites are hard to pick on an album of such quality, but try the sweeping ballad “Way Back Home” for sheer emotion; or “I’d Die For You” for the emotion. Maybe even the bluesier “The Best Is Yet To Come” which really brings out the best in Michael’s vocals.

A great album for fans and those of you out there still unfamiliar with one of the great vocalists in German Hard Rock. This may be a great representation of the lighter side of Bormann’s work, but as fans know that’s only part of the story.
