HOUSE OF X REVIEW 2014

HOUSE OF X - HOUSE OF X

ESCAPE MUSIC

OCTOBER 24 2014

House of X is an original music project made up of members of UFO cover band X-UFO and as such you might be able to hazard a guess as to how this sounds: cultured, melodic, catchy hard rock with just that right touch of Blues, but certainly no UFO sound-alike: Indeed if it wasn’t for the inclusion of ‘Martian Landscape’ (from UFO’s No Heavy Petting) it would be hard to see any connection.

What we get largely is really a collection of no-fuss rockers with tracks like opener ‘Do Me Wrong’; ‘No More Tequila’; ‘The Road Less Troubled’ and ‘House of Lies’ leading the way.

Then there are the more laid back, groove-laden tracks like ‘Long Arm of the Law’; ‘No Way Home’ (which is perhaps a bit more like UFO) and ‘Busted’ which work equally well.

One of our favourites though is ‘Second Son’ which really hits the spot with its mile-deep grooves, great riff and top-drawer vocals: which we might add are excellent throughout.  A close second comes the mini-epic ‘Alive’ which starts out subdued until it hits its stride before bursting into the sort of timeless Rock anthem that will have you singing along in no time.

Classic British Hard Rock done as well as we’ve heard in ages…
