GOTTHARD BANG REVIEW 2014

GOTTHARD - BANG

G RECORDS

APRIL 4 2014

Gotthard’s second album with Swiss/Australian vocalist Nic Maeder sounds comfortable, but not comfortable in a bad way, comfortable in a way that sounds like the band is right back in that groove that made their output so irresistible.

It’s an album that has all the trademarks that the band is known for, from infectious groove-laden stompers, to more introspective ballads, all built on the shoulders of their staple – great driving melodic rock songs that make you want to get up and move that body, like ‘Get Up N’ Move’!

In an album that is as solid as the Swiss are neutral there’s plenty to offer up as reasons to buy ‘Bang’. If you like the lighter side then ‘C’est La Vie’ is the huge ballad that you could sail away on; if you love the melody then ‘Feel What I Feel’ should do it for you; but if it’s the foot-off-the-pedal’ cool that appeals then try ‘Spread Your Wings’.

Truth is you can’t go far wrong with anything here from opener ‘Bang’ to closing track ‘Thank You’ there are only a couple of tracks that feel like filler. Our picks? Well try the epic ‘Thank You’ that closes the album out in fine style; or maybe the over-the-top ‘I Won’t Look Down’; or the groovier “My Belief’. Wherever you look there are things to recommend this album to lovers of finely crafted Melodic Rock.

Gotthard is still looking good!
