ETERNAL FEAR UK DAMNATION LIVE IN LONDON 2013 REVIEW

ETERNAL FEAR

UK DAMNATION LIVE IN LONDON 2013

BURNING HALO RECORDS

OCTOBER 26 2014

Sweden’s Eternal Fear has always had more than a mere soft spot for Classic British Metal and now they finally have the classic live album to showcase their first ever London appearance. There have of course been some legendary live albums over the years, but with Bootlegs merging into Official Bootlegs and whole concerts being streamed or filmed there seems to be a dip in the cache of the ‘live’ release these days.

Eternal Fear have always been admirers of the real titans of British Metal though primarily it is Priest and Maiden that hit you between the eyes listening to this rather good live representation of the band.

With four albums to draw from and the added bonus of hearing tracks such as “Killing Time” from the as yet unreleased fifth there is a strong emphasis on tracks from the latest “Eternal Damnation” album (hence the album title). Standouts from that latest release include “Army From Hell”, “World Comes Down” and “G.O.D” which are really what Eternal Fear is all about.

What might surprise someone who hasn’t heard of the band is the quality of the material here. It’s really hard to go wrong wherever you choose to push play though we would suggest to either start at the beginning with the title track of the latest release, or maybe try “Embracing Darkness” that recalls vintage Maiden, or “Final Stand” that has a lot of Dio -era Rainbow about it.

A great ‘live’ album by a band who more people should know about.
