DORO RAISE YOUR FIST REVIEW 2014

DORO - RAISE YOUR FIST (30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION)

with bonus disc 'PERSONAL PASSIONATE FAVOURITES'

NUCLEAR BLAST

MAY 2 2014

In honour of 30 years making Rock to make your scream and throw your fists in the air Doro is releasing a special anniversary edition of her 17th studio album ‘Raise Your Fist’ as you might imagine though to mark such an anniversary there is something rather special for fans and that comes in the form of a bonus CD entitled ‘Powerful Passionate Favorites’ and which features cover version of some of Doro’s all-time favourite songs.

If you want to read a run-down of the excellent ‘Raise Your Fist’ there are plenty of reviews out there, though we suspect like us you already own a copy! And whilst the bonus disc offers a French language version of ‘Raise Your Fist in the Air’ and a new mix of the Lemmy duet ‘It Still Hurts’ it’s songs like the amazing ‘All we Are’; the super-speed ‘Take No Prisoner’ and  rockers ‘Coldhearted Lover’ and ‘Rock Till Death’ that prove that Doro is as strong and essential as ever. ‘Hero’ of course needs no introduction!

We’ll just concentrate on the excellent ‘Powerful Passionate Favorites’ which contains both unreleased tracks and cover versions of great artists like Zeppelin, Metallica and Dio, whilst also delving deeper to add songs like ‘Nutbush City Limits’ by Tina Turner.

Of the cover songs we can’t go past the rather obscure pairing of  ‘Only You’ by Kiss (proving that we’re not the only ones that rate their album ‘The Elder’) and ‘Egypt’ by Dio which really rubs in what a great song that is. Tthere’s also a great cover of Metallica’s ‘Nothing Else Matters’ and a storming version of Zep’s ‘Babe I’m Gonna Leave You’.

It’s all topped off by the two unreleased tracks ‘Warfare’ the  title song of the upcoming movie “Anuk II”  and ’NYC Blues’ a gentle bluesy Joplinesque low-key closer that sounds amazing.

In addition to this release to celebrate her 30 years stage jubilee, Doro will be playing two separate yet unique shows on May 02: the “Classic Night” with Orchestra, and May 03: the “Rock Night” with many guests and fans from all over the world, at CCD Stadthalle of her hometown Düsseldorf.

Pretty much essential!
