DIRTFEST 2014 LIVE REVIEW

DIRTFEST 2014 LIVE REVIEW

The 16th annual Dirtfest was a huge success this year with six stages playing host to 66 bands from all over the world. The annual festival took place a the Birch Run Expo Center in Birch Run, Michigan.

Blue Felix

Michigan was well represented this year with many local bands including; Laid in Stone, Critical Bill, Deveraux, Through the Ashes, Shudder, Gift Giver, It Lies Within. Just to name a few. Probably the most recognizable of all, Battlecross. These guys have been drawing massive crowds over the last couple of years opening up Metalica’s Orion Festival in 2013 as well as touring with the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.

Nothing More is quickly gaining speed and fans following their self titled release in 2014. Nothing More is a band that you must see live to truly appreciate their energy and passion. Front man Jonny Hawkins sings with every ounce of his being and has some serious pipes as well. The guys are currently on tour with Sleepwave and will be on tour this fall with Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat, and Hellyeah.

Gemini Syndrome

Pychostick

Another heavy hitter at the this years festival included one of my personal favourites, Gemini Syndrome. Their debut release “Lux” has kept them touring in full swing since it’s release in 2013, opening up for Five Finger Death Punch, and most recently are out on tour with Sevendust.

The RockPit also had a chance to have a chat with Jay and Norman from Murder FM. They have been super busy opening up for several Five Finger Death Punch, Gemini Syndrome, Killswitch Engage, and Pop Evil.

Non-Point

Battlecross

The guys were excited to be a part of Dirtfest 2014 and are looking forward to touring with Fozzy, Avatar and Rob Zombie in September. Check out their latest single, “We the Evil”on Murder FM radio here: http://www.murderfmmusic.com/Murder-FM-Radio.html

I look forward to hearing so much more from these guys.

Murder FM

Sunflower Dead drew a huge crowd for their early start at Dirtfest playing one of the smaller stages. This is a band to keep an eye on as well as they will be supporting Powerman 5000 and (Hed) p.e. on tour through the rest of August.

Their video for “Wasted” can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/HAFmGVgK2c0

Nothing More

Sunflower Dead

Dirtfest 2014 co-headliners Powerman 5000 and headliners Killswitch Engage had the crowd going absolutely insane as they closed out the show.
