DESTRAGE ARE YOU KIDDING ME NO ALBUM REVIEW 2014

DESTRAGE - ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO

METAL BLADE REVORDS

MARCH 4 2014

Imagine a band like Jane’s Addiction was fused to a current Metalcore band and you might get an idea of what my immediate reaction to Destrage’s  album ’Are You Kidding Me? No’ was. The only way to describe an unholy noise like this is I guess Alt-Metalcore but it’s so much more.

Add to that a definite Punk vibe on songs like ‘Purania’, which combines a crazy vocal with Metalcore growls and almost pop-like refrain, topped off with a quirky sing along section at the end. This is odd stuff indeed and yet strangely addictive.

‘My Green Neighbour’ if anything is more stable, like Rap-Metal Prong meets Van Halen playing melodic funk Metal in a psychedelic blender. To be honest this is an album you just need to hear. It’s crazy and it’s crazy good.

Check out tracks like ‘G.O.D.’ which is seemingly held together by spiky guitar and a funk Metal vibe and evil driving spiky riffs that threaten to burst through your ears.  There’s also ‘Waterpark Bachelorette’ which is more straightforward and punky and  ‘(Obedience)’ which just sounds like the voices in someone’s head might sound…

Brilliant!
