AZORIA SEASONS CHANGE ALBUM REVIEW 2014

AZORIA - SEASONS CHANGE

DOOLITTLE GROUP

MARCH 14 2014

Featuring members of ReinXeed, Therion and Cloudscape Azoria’s debut album features a revolving line up of vocalists but the album starts with ”Just Like The Phoenix” which features  Sweden ́s power metal frontman Tommy ReinXeed on lead vocals as well as later track ”Inside My Heart”  and in truth he’s probably our pick of the bunch.

Musically this is guitar-driven solid melodic rock and while very pleasing and remarkably consistent there’s sadly not one real killer track that stays with you, and which would have elevated this album from a very cool addition to your collection to absolutely essential.

Our favourites are the power metal of ”Seasons Change”, with Mikael Dahls on vocals; and ”To The Land Of Glory” which has an interesting progressive feel to it. At nine tracks though this album does feel a little short just and when you are just getting into it it’s over. Not usually a fan of multiple vocalists I must say the songs are incredibly well chosen for them here, though bringing in a female vocalist – Matilda Eriksson throws the album somewhat off-kilter (I can’t imagine the band doing much touring) and has you wishing they did more with her.

At the end of the day this is solid but not essential Melodic Rock.
