AUDIO PORN - MIDNIGHT CONFESSIONS

JK RECORDS

SEPTEMBER 23 2014

From the opening track ‘This Ain’t Paradise’ with its heavy breathing, cutting riff and lyric full of laid back attitude this second release from Audio Porn starts off sounding like early Bon Jovi with more balls. ‘Sin’ that follows is similar melodic fare, just as packed with hooks and with just the same attitude. Once again Audio Porn has managed to put together a collection of songs that showcases some of the nest aspects of commercial eighties Hard Rock and given it their own sleazy twist.

Delving a little deeper and you’ll find an album’s worth of big guitar sounds (heavier than last outing), huge hooks and enough sleaze and cheese to keep that smile on the face. If you can take the lyrical content tongue in cheek what you’ll find is an album that is just that cut above with songs like the opener, the glorious almost punky ‘Not Saying Sorry’ and ‘Freak Like You’ leading the charge. Lf there were a few more like this rather than turgid takes on classics like Aerosmith’s ‘Lord of the Thighs’ then this would be hitting essential territory.

Two live tracks ‘Break Me’ and ‘Drive’ round out the album showing that these guys are more than capable live despite being seen as a studio project (the crowd does sound suspiciously large though).  Both are decent heavy hitters well worth inclusion. Is this better than the debut ‘Jezebel’s Kiss’? The jury’s still out at the moment for us, but man we enjoyed this too.
