The Ourz Dirty Tricks CD Review

THE OURZ

DIRTY TRICKS EP

2012

This is good.  This is Rock and Roll. The OURZ: a self-proclaimed “Dirty Rock N Roll” band from Dublin, Ireland certainly knows how to rock on the basis of this album and you can see what all the fuss is about at home.  With what we are told is a non-stop live show and with influences plucked from all through rock’s rich history you get something that kicks with a passion and yet comes from the heart.

From tracks like the moody bass-driven ‘Couldn’t Believe it’ to the rock and roll of ‘Midnight Friend’ then across to the lighter ‘Summer Rain’ it’s an album that shows a great level of maturity and diversity, it’s also unrelentingly cool.

Musically it’s hard to pin the band down there’s definitely a 70’s rock flavour but with a modern twist and you get some glimpses of bands like the Heartbreakers  at times but nothing is overtly obvious.
Other standouts for us include the bluesy ‘Your Time Will Come’, the huge sound of ‘Attack’ and the vey catchy ‘Nasty Conscience’  Great vocal, great sound and expect a lot from these guys if they fall on the right ears!
