FRAGMENTS OF A DYING SUN

2013

THE SEEDS OF SOMETHING HUGE

Progressive Metal from Sydney that ticks all the boxes. No Home For Heroes are touting ‘Fragments of a Dying Sun’ as a teaser for their forthcoming double album rock opera. Now if you like bands like Vanden Plas who these guys remind me of somewhat or the noise thrown up by West Australia’s Karnivool (though in truth both comparisons are merely hints) then you will find this one you will want to hear more of.

If you’re looking for something big and clever and full of dynamics then this would have to be one of the best Australian releases of this ilk in some time.

Check out ‘Alleyway: Dusk’ for something immediate, or the very grand ‘Three Lives: Part II: Semiconscious’ to get you drifting on the tide.  I truth if this is the teaser for something bigger it does the trick – the musicianship is both inventive and succulent and the songs show the potential for something purely momentous. At the moment ‘Alone on Earth’ is getting a pounding. Enjoy!
