The fourth annual Carnival of Madness tour is underway with a fantastic line up this year. The Rock Pit had a chance to check out this year’s line up at DTE in Clarkston, MI.

Shinedown, Papa Roach, Skillet, In This Moment, and We As Humanare currently on the road supporting this year’s festival.

We As Human set the tone for the evening putting on a high energy performance. John Cooper, lead singer of Skillet joined the band onstage for their song “Zombie”.

Next on the bill was In This Moment with a theatrical stage performance with Maria at center stage with dancers on either side of her. In This Moment has been touring for some time now and has quickly amassed a huge following of devoted fans.

Skillet was next to hit the stage. This band always put on an enthusiastic performance. The band’s introduction included a cellist and violinist. This was my first time seeing them live and it was worth the wait. I will be sure to catch them the next time they are in town and so should you. They will be heading to Europe soon opening up for Nickleback.

Papa Roach is still and always has been a favourite of mine. Jacoby has to be one of the liveliest front men in rock. It was good to see Jacoby’s voice back in fine form after having to cancel a few shows early in the year due to vocal restrictions. Papa Roach is constantly known for their lively performances and never let down their fans.

Shinedown had a massive stage show with pyro and various acrobatic acts covering the entire stage for the first couple of songs during their set.

Brent Smith is definitely one of the most passionate front men in rock. He always asked the crowd to introduce themselves to the people standing/sitting closest to them and is not exception to his request. Brent was sure to shake as many hands in the front row as possible.

This year is probably the best Carnival of Madness lineup yet. I can’t wait to see what the next year will bring. Be sure to stay up to date on these bands and the festival.
