LOW-KEY BLUES

From the low-key opener ‘I’m Already Dead’ through sweeping groove of ‘All the World’s Watching’ (one of our favourites) and the mellow ‘Leave Me in the Dark’ this is an album that’s kicking out no jams. It’s Zeppelinny, it’s bluesy and it’s a little grungy (considering the line up of Duff McKagan, Jeff Angell, Barrett Martin, and Benjamin Anderson with some guitar supplied by Mike McCready that may not surprise).

This is a very laid back album, great musically, great vocally and yet somehow lacking that indefinable spark to make it truly great album. The sad thing is that it almost gets there on almost every song there’s just such an emphasis on understatement that you can quite happily listen through but little lodge’s in you brain.  With the caliber of musicians involved I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more, I’ll just wish for a little more fire in the belly than fire in the hearth next time. One to relax to.
