THE DEAD DAISIES

LOCK 'N' LOAD

(SINGLE)

2013

THE REBIRTH OF CLASSIC ROCK

Now we don’t, as you know, normally review singles but this is the exception worth breaking the rule for. The Dead Daisies is a band that you need to know about, and this, their first single has the distinction of being co-written by none other than Slash.

Formed by Jon Stevens and David Lowy to bring back the great sound of classic late seventies, early eighties rock, we all love all we can say is that from what we’ve heard so far they have achieved what they set out to do and then some.

The single Lock ‘N’ Load itself is a glorious slab of rock that of course can’t help but showcase Slash’s great guitar, but it’s also a great song, built on a solid riff and has enough about it, that if you close your eyes you could actually imagine it sitting comfortably on a Bad Company album.

Jon Stevens is of course a big name in Australia fronting Noiseworks, but he might also ring a bell from his time with INXS a few years back. One thing’s for sure his voice is as good as it ever was, with even maybe a bit more honey than it had back in the day.

Check out Lock ‘N’ Load and then head to the website www.thedeaddaisies.com for more samples of what’s to come. You won’t regret it.  The name ‘Slash; may have been what grabbed your interest but there’s a lot more to love about the band than this first single.
