TUMBLEWEED

SOUNDS FROM THE OTHER SIDE

2013

THERE AND BACK AGAIN

The garage rock groove of opening track ‘Mandelbrot’ makes it seem like Tumbleweed has never been away, what the song has to do though with complex mathematical shapes I’m not sure, I’m still pondering that in fact when ‘Sweet Little Runaway’ drops – like Jim Morrison over garage fuzz.  It’s a great start to be honest and makes you remember why we loved these guys back in the early nineties.

This isn’t of course about taking a huge step forward sonically, and neither does it sound like a cash in with some real quality here: perhaps best of all here being ‘Night Owl’ which sounds like a band in its prime. Amongst the best there’s also the Bowiesque ‘Drop in the Ocean’; the hell for leather ‘Dirty Little Secret’ and the sleazy ‘Queen of Voodoo’.

A great and welcome return.
