MELODIC POWER AT PLAY

Shakra is a band that has never disappointed me and ‘Powerplay’ their latest release keeps up that fine record.  There’s a crunching start with the explosive ‘Life is Now’ that gets the blood pumping before ‘The Mask’ which  will immediately please fans of that harder edged melodic sound the band are known for ( as I always say think a slightly heavier Bonfire).

N an album that’s hard to pick favourites from ‘Wonderful Life’ is a well above the run of the mill ballad with wonderful vocals from John; but it has to be ‘Save You From Yourself’ that wins the day it’s Shakra at their driving melodic best and the fists will pump for that chorus live I’m sure!

Elsewhere ‘Dear Enemy’ has a more modern Feel, ‘Don't Keep Me Hanging’ ups the ante and has a huge sing-along chorus, and ‘Because of You’ will have you out of your chair: but it’s probably the epic ride that ‘Dream of Mankind’ takes us on that really blows you away.

If ballads are more your thing though you’ll love ‘Powerplay’ as it has two huge ones: ‘Wonderful Life’ I mentioned already but it’s probably ‘Too Good To Be True’ that edges ahead for me.
A must for your collection!
