SENSES FAIL

RENACER

2013

THE REBIRTH OF A GREAT BAND

Jersey’s Senses Fail’s new album ‘Renacer’ could well be their best yet and maybe that’s because all the pressure is off? Whatever the reason there’s a power here that whether it’s born of frustration or relief gives the songs new life. One things for sure from the opening growl of the title track (Renacer of course means ‘reborn; in Spanish) to the closing notes of the soaring ‘Between The Mountain and The Sea’ you do feel that this is band with a new road ahead of them, and on this basis a heavier road too.

In an album full of power it’s the epic thrash of ‘Holy Mountain’ and the white hot almost completely sung in Spanish ‘Mi Amor’ that have most impact at first listen. But this is a grower and one with a surprising amount of diversity – with songs like ‘Frost Flower’ the most Metal. Best of all though is the song ‘Glass’ which has to be one of Senses Fail’s best ever songs.
