RUNNING WILD

RESILIENT

2013

WILD AND FREE

In an industry where people often take things far too seriously Running Wild is a breath of fresh (OK maybe not the right word) air in that they have a mascot called Adrian emblazoned on the cover of their latest release who makes Maiden’s Eddie look like a beauty queen. After all it’s all about the music, or so I still like to think.

Guided by the legendary Rock’n’Rolf Kasparek Running Wild is an institution well worth preserving and if proof is still required it’s writ large in the twelve ‘storm-proof’ (their words not mine) numbers on ‘Resilient’. An incredible 38 years on Running Wild is still delivering the goods in the way only those bands of a certain vintage can. After a break to work on his ‘Giant X’ project Rolf is back and rejuvenated.

On tracks such as ‘Fireheart’ and the amazing ‘Soldiers Of Fortune’ Running Wild is back to their very best after a rather hit and miss last outing on ‘Shadowmaker’, but if you thought that you’d heard it all before take a dive into the epic that is ‘Bloody Island’ and you’ll find that Running Wild may be about to hit their fourth decade but they are far from a spent force.

If you’ve not heard Running Wild before this is a great place to start and if you’re a fan then this is what you’ve been waiting for.
