THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM

Roses Unread hail from Tennessee and released their third album – the self-titled ‘Roses Unread’ on 24 September this year. If you want to hear some kick ass Rock and Roll from an unsigned band then this female-fronted five-piece has a rather clean rock sound with a good ear for a melody. Though their sound is decidedly modern-edged there are enough classic rock sensibilities to please most listeners who just love the sound of a guitar and a great song.

If you want a good representation of the band then the lead single and video for the new release ‘Blind Lead the Blind’ is a great place to start, but there’s a lot more to love on here. If you can imagine a band less Gothic than Evanescence, less pop than Paramore and less Rocking than Halestorm, but who manage to capture parts of each then you have an idea of the sound of the band.

Our pick of the bunch here would include the rocking ‘Supertaint’ which seems to draw it all together perfectly; the lyrically intense ‘Dark Passenger’; the anthem for the repressed ‘Just Like Me’ and the wonderful ‘Dislocate’ where the guitar really shines: it’s the sort of song you hope leads a way forward.

This is great stuff that deserves a good listen.
