SPIRITUAL BEGGARS

EARTH BLUES

2013

ONE OF THE BEST YOU'LL HEAR ALL YEAR

Now here’s one you all need to hear. Classic sounding Metal may have had a bit of resurgence in the past few years and we for one love it, but like everything that comes in waves there’s good and bad, and there’s a few that could earn the tag classic. This is one of those albums at the very top of that crop and may well be one of the best albums you will hear all year.

Shredding riffs and some great keys underpin and album which harks back to basics. With its definite lack of studio trickery, it’s all heart and soul rock and roll. You can almost hear to buzz of the valve amps firing up! Vibes aside there is some great music on offer here with tracks like ‘Kingmaker’ amongst some of the best music The Beggars have produced. Part of the transformation is vocalist Apollo Papathanasio (Firewind) who puts in a great performance at times sounding like Coverdale in his pomp.

If you love your proto-metal then you’ll love this, it may be flavor of the week but these guys are the masters.
