SAMSARA BLUES EXPERIMENT

WAITING FOR THE FLOOD

2013

BLUES IS ONLY THE BEGINNING

SBE is a band that has its own definitive take on Blues meets Stoner-Prog with a heavy dose of psychedelia, and if like me you hadn’t heard of them before then ‘Waiting For the Flood’ certainly sounds like as good a place as any to start.

With an album that at times summons the spirits of the greats of the sixties and seventies – anyone from Zeppelin to Hendrix to King Crimson, it’s well played rock, great songs and interesting ventures into Prog, but it’s far from groundbreaking. In my mind though that’s positive rather than a negative – after all how many of those bands can you still see out on the road today?

On a solid album there’s plenty to enjoy, but none more so than on closer ‘Brahmin’s Lament’ which has that Middle-Eastern Zeppelin sound down pat. With only four tracks all clocking in at over ten minutes it’s an album to savour.
