The Max Factor...

If you love the sound of great Melodic Hard Rock with a distinct eighties flavour then these days none do it better than Germany’s Mad Max.

Led from the front by the impeccable vocals of Michael Voss Mad Max is a band that has been around seemingly forever (well 31 years and 10 albums) and yet with this release and 2010’s ‘Another Night of Passion’ they seem to be at the peak of their powers.

Opening track ‘Save Me’ leads the way through ten tracks of sheer nostalgia, coming across like a cross between Dokken, Pretty Maids and at times Def Leppard there is quality shot through this release, and it’s all delivered with precision and wonderfully produced too!

If you love Hard Rock the way it was meant to be then we veer from the impressive ‘Godzilla’ through the rocking ‘Sons of Anarchy’ to the Def Leppard-like ‘Rock all your life’ which seems made for the stadium stages.

Other highlights include the wonderful ‘Bring on the Night’ (probably the most Dokken-like offering here); the down and dirty ‘Revolution’ and the rather impressive Sweet cover ‘Turn it On’.

Highly recommended.
