Resillusion

2013

CHOICE AUSTRALIAN METAL

We don’t get a lot of Melodic Death Metal to review at the Rockpit, but we’re always keen to help a local band by having a listen and to be honest this is pretty impressive stuff. Starting with a bell that swiftly drowns in monster drums and a scalding riff before the growls kick in ‘The Deconstruct’ is an impressive a start to an album of this genre you will hear. Coming off a successful tour with ‘Amon Amarth’ in 2012 and supporting ‘Alestorm’ in 2013, Orpheus Omega obviously are attracting a lot of attention and ‘Resillution’ shows why.

Solid and thrashy at its core ‘Orpheus Omega’ put together a competent collection that has just enough to take it above the plethora of similar releases so far this year.  For one there’s some interesting (some might say) progressive ideas on here which both alleviate the onslaught and add a little depth and balance. They have great sense of melody too, and use keys sparingly but effectively.

So if you like your Death to have that hint of Melody and a trace of dynamism, this is more great heavy Aussie music for you.
