MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE

How I Learned to Stop Giving a Shit AND LOVE MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE

2013

LET'S ALL GET MORE MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE

Now this really and squarely isn’t normally my thing at all but it’s fucking brilliant fun! From the opening lines ‘Son of a Bitch, God likes me, I am the best, fuck everybody else, suck on my dick, I’m perfect…’ Witness is one of the best songs of the year. It’s an amazing start to a high energy synth led, pop, punk gang-vocal and sample-drenched romp through a group of songs that are primarily designed to make you dance.

While ‘It Gets Worse’ bursts with energy and mourns that things aren’t too great if you don’t have money and ‘I Want to be Black’ mourns not being black it’s not all doom and gloom and hopefully will be seen as being firmly tongue I cheek, though due respect is paid to the PC brigade (or maybe I’m being ironic).

‘Hey Tomorrow Fuck You and Your Friend Yesterday’ is the punk dance equivalent of ELO with a sense of humour – another mad monster of a song.  ‘You’re No Fun…’ is equally fun and ‘Ala Mode’ gloriously driving and un-PC.

The best thing about this album is the energy and the fact that it is (hopefully) designed to upset everyone, that is if you can stop dancing long enough. If it still doesn’t sound like your thing listen to ‘Kill You All in a Hip Hop Rage’ or 'Stalkers (slit my wrists)' with a  straight face.

Really if you want to cheer yourself up and confirm how utterly evil the concept of Political Correctness is give this a spin it’s genius!
