NOVUM INFINITUM

2013

A NEW BENCHMARK

We loved Masterplan’s last album ‘Time to be King’ three years ago, and they return with a new album and a fresh start with new personnel for the upcoming release of ‘Novum Infinitum’.  New in the line-up of the band are vocalist Rick Altzi (known from his work with At Vance, Herman Frank and others) and ex-Stratovarius / Devil's Train bassist Jari Kainulainen who all bring their undoubted skills. If you love your melodic Metal then this ticks all the boxes.

The man with perhaps the hardest task here is Rick Aitzi stepping into, as he is, the shoes vacated by Jorn Lande, the great news is that he pulls it off in spades.  You also get the feeling of progression here with the odd touch of Prog embellishing rather than detracting from a fine group of songs.

Our highlights include the first beautifully-balanced single ‘Keep Your Dream Alive’ which pulls it all together as well as opener, the pacey ‘The Game’. The pinnacle though just might be the wonderful ‘Black Night of Magic’ which sweeps you away with its relentlessness.

Nothing here disappoints.
