THE ONES THAT GOT AWAY

UK Hard Rockers Jettblack is back with a stop-gap album of hard-to-find, unreleased and re-worked material. Of the 13 tracks here there’s a smattering of covers from Motorhead, Heart and AC/DC, the best of which is a version of Heart’s Barracuda. There’s also a new song – ‘Red Horizon’ and a number of outtakes from both ‘Raining Rock’ and ‘Get Your Hands Dirty’ Sessions’. Primarily though, the highlights are the acoustic workouts of some of their best and a re-working of ‘Black Gold’ with special guest Damon Johnson.

If you’re a fan of the band like me you’ll find this very enjoyable but if you’re starting out with Jettblack you’d be best to first pick up their two albums. We do of course get a taster from album number three in an acoustic take of ‘Red Horizon’: as  solid as it is acoustically you can only imagine what the finished article will sound like: roll on album number three.
