WEST COAST WITH A GOLDEN VOICE

Mr Frederiksen certainly has a great voice as many of you will undoubtedly know, so with that said what does he bring to the table on new long-player ‘Any Given Moment’? Well let’s just say it’s some memorable invigorating Melodic Rock, which given Fergie’s seeming recovery from inoperable liver cancer is understandable. Indeed the lyrical direction of opening track ‘Last Battle of My War’ seems to be the high-tempo recount of that very fight (as does the equally ebullient title track). It’s a great song that lights the way for an album that is part high tempo melody and part more laid back West Coast AOR.

For fans, this is equally as strong as his first solo outing and for those fans of Melodic Rock new to the name, which given his time in the business I doubt there are many of you (I first came across him in 1984 when he had a brief stint in Toto) this is an album worthy of your collections.

Our favourites have to be the cover of Toto’s ‘Angel Don’t Cry’ from the ‘Isolation’ album he sang on; the Melodic groove of  ‘Let Go’ – our pick of the originals; and ‘Not Alone’ the ballad with Issa.
