MELODIC ROCK LIKE IT SHOULD BE

New from Sweden and featuring Tobias Andersson (Shadowland & Seven Wishes) & Tommy DenanderEDGE is a great new AOR/Melodic Rock band that on the face of this release we hope keeps going.  This is an album packed with different melodic influences from traditional melodic rock to symphony and metal, and it’s that variety that is a big part of the charm.

If you are a fan of European-flavoured melodic rock along the lines of the greats like Bonfire, then songs like the opener ‘Little Girl’ should pique your interest. There’s an early Dokken vibe too that is noticeable in many of the songs here, though without the harder edges. Overall it’s a pleasing album and while it won’t quite blow you away it’s consistently good and at times great. Just the sort of album that you can see the sparks that could light a real flame if the project continues.

Our favourites have to be the Magnum meets Bonfire of ‘How Long’ which has the catchiest chorus here; ‘Nowhere to Hide’ which is probably our favourite and reminds you of bands like H.E.A.T.; I Could Never Live’ which has a touch of Bon Jovi about it; ‘To Hell and Back’ and ‘The End of The World’ which is AOR Heaven!

To be fair to single out tracks on a release like this is a bit of a disservice to EDGE who have produced a truly fine album.
