DIVA DYNAMITE

Now here’s an EP that is both exciting and frustrating. Seeing the band live on the recent dates with Kiss, Motley and Thin Lizzy Diva Demolition proved to be a real treat for those that got there early.  Then going on to score dates with the mighty Aerosmith is what bands dream of. With a set list that showed that they had depth all of the signs were that we’d produced another home grown talent to champion.

This EP is the release that should be building on that exposure, but good as it is it’s not the complete article and only part of the promise we saw out there.

You can feel it most on the title track itself ‘Diva Disease’ a song that is trying a little too self-consciously to stand out from the pack. And to be honest these days that’s what bands need to do and it’s never easy. The problem is that it just doesn’t click, it’s close, it’s almost there and you can almost hear it reaching out but falling just short. The great ness is that there are better songs here.

At their heart Diva Demolition are that once in a lifetime dream ticket – a female fronted Aussie Rock band with bite, and they prove that they can hit the spot on the last couple of tracks here- ‘Bitch’ is just one of those songs with extra attitude and a  big chorus made to singing along to, and the slightly quirky ‘Screw Loose’ that follows also show that they can land the big ones.
You’ll like this EP, but you’ll love those two, and I for one can’t wait to hear what comes next.
