DIAMOND DAVE REDUX

Of course David is back in Van Halen now – we saw him in Sydney earlier in the year, the hair is shorn and he’s not as fleet footed but he’s still Dave, or rather David (just like Mr. Coverdale).

So if you want to step back in time to see what happened when the Universe first split and Van Halen parted company with Mr. Lee Roth way back in 1985 to recruit Sammy Hagar and carry on, it’s worth refreshing your memory that Dave also did pretty well himself too after the split especially for ‘Crazy from the Heat’; ‘Eat ‘Em and Smile’ and ‘Skyscraper’ (I’m so old I saw him play that tour as well as Donington).

From then on of course music changed, Grunge stepped in and only the behomoths like Van Halen and Aerosmith still packed them in. Dave’s career started a minor sales slide after ‘A Little Ain’t Enough’ but you don’t feel it in the music.

Newly remastered naturally, you get 16 tracks - so far so good; but the real seller is the videos – sure you may have the early stuff but have you seen all those Dave TV interviews? Really? Well in an alternate Universe Dave went into game shows before becoming Emperor of the world… Gotta love it, I’ll take one with everything…. To go.
