AMERICAN FANGS

AMERICAN FANGS

2013

SINK YOUR TEETH INTO THIS ONE

Starting off with a track that seems to be fighting within itself with Chilli Peppers and American pop-rock radio influences ‘Riot Food’ isn’t something that grabbed me first time round; but when ‘Le Kick’ starts out in a very similar fashion you start to wonder if American Fangs is a one trick act.

Now don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with the Chillis and I can take a bit of pop-rock, but taking the attitude of one and the shiny newness of the other is something that doesn’t work for me but might just be the twist that sets these guys aside from the pack if you look at things differently.
As debuts go this isn’t bad and the screams that start ‘Pomona’ herald an upturn, now this is a track that has attitude and hits the spot. ‘Sorry’ that follows is even better and it makes you think that perhaps with time American Fangs will work out what their own sound is. Until then you get a debut that shines at points and shows promise for the future.
