SCREAM CORE

Party Post-Hardcore Metal with hip-hop lyrical stylings won’t be for everyone, but there’s a certain vitality to this band sat atop the standard post-hardcore far.  If you love your growls set against the hip hop rap and love the use of words like ‘fuck’ and ‘homies’ this is the one for you. To be honest I quite like it even though lyrically it is rather puerile and as shallow as a… ummm… well shall we say ‘as shallow as the shallowest thing you can imagine’.

‘Hellraiser’ is pretty intense and a standout for me but it’s really quite a solid album musically that peaks early with ‘Rageaholics’ and then really has nothing different to say. Irony is either gloriously lost on these guys though, or they have mastered post-ironic comment as ‘Backtalk’ is a stab about people talking shit by a band that then proceed to do so on ‘Callout’… hmmmn. Oh and then ALL they do is talk shit…. I get it…

So as annoying as things get lyrically the structures are more than your average run of the mill post hardcore mess. It’s the ‘fuck everyone else’ nihilism of the lyrics though that’s most worrying. Sure go out and party without a care in the world but it gets a bit old when every song has so little to offer that’s different. Frustrating, but I suspect there’s plenty of kids who will love it.
